So many changes… work, cars… what’s next

I keep meaning to post updates here, but either I have been too busy with work, or I wasn’t sure on what to post about really.

So, I may just go through with some recent changes that have happened to us in Gisborne.

First off, work. I have ended up gaining more hours of late, with some of the staff leaving for another job, retiring or even health issues. I have also become a cashier instead of fore-courter. Least for the last month or so. Which is great, to an extent. I hate the idea of moaning on about it, but with a number of hours gained and still no-one else to talk to proper down here… but, it sucks. I would relish the idea of a normal working week.

Next, and a bit of a story to tell. My first drive means has kicked the bucket, of sorts. My car had been overheating for some time, and we still cannot quite work out why. So, for two weeks Reuban and I test drove a couple of cars we were looking at.

Toyota Corolla, Suzuki Swift, Mitsubishi Lancer, and a Honda Civic were the ones we were able to drive. They all had their perks, no doubt, but in the end, it came down to two – the Swift and the Civic. And then one simply due to the price difference.

I have to say, I thoroughly love it. I have been driving it for just over two weeks now and it is a dream. So quiet, surprisingly economical on gas, zippy, and the space! My word the space I have now. A back seat, a boot that can hold all the groceries and more. The power is almost laughable in comparison to my last car. Where that was a two litre non turbo, the Swift is a one litre turbo.

I kid you not on that. There is so many other little bits and pieces about it that I can’t go into full detail in just one post. I just find it amazing and already it has clocked up just over 600 kilometres. It still amazes me on how quick those have piled up, but with all of those, I have only ever put fuel into it once.

We’re still in shock that we now own this, as well as a house with land. What will be the next big venture I wonder…
